Project details
At Noora Health, our mission is to train patients and their families with high-impact health skills to improve outcomes and save live.
We achieve this by training families in the care of their loved ones. We turn hospital hallways and waiting rooms into classrooms and teaching those who care the most how to help those who need it the most. We are human-centered design evangelists who love to test in the field, try new ideas, and make products that help our users (families living below the poverty line in India, facing life threatening illness) live healthier, happier lives.

Problem statement
The shortage of trained medical professionals in India means that most patients recovering from medical interventions rely mainly on care provided by family members. With very limited information or training, families are often ill-equipped to provide support during the recovery process; resulting in high rates of patient relapse and complications. Research has shown the value of equipping family caregivers to become more competent and confident in providing safe and effective care to patients.

Early stage design process
In Noora Health, we as a design team demonstrates the value of human-centered design and stakeholder engagement. We have developed a ‘train-the-trainer’ approach and certification program for hospital staff,, usually nurses. The program teaches trainers how to effectively deliver health education and awareness to patients and their families.

Noora Health also provides a range of learning aids and materials, which it develops with input from content specialists. Patient families receive an interactive, skills-based training program, delivered by the trained hospital staff, focused on practical skills they can use at home to facilitate recovery post treatment. This allows family members to support loved ones during their recovery, alleviating their anxiety and easing the transition from the hospital to the home.

Role in the team
In the design team of four members, I am primarily working as a Product and interaction design and User experience design. And my design project are following..
Designing the patient engagement or teaching tool for the nurses; example:- information design, game design, teaching booklets design for cardiac and oncology patient.
Designing a interactive Care-companion mobile training application to run program remotely.

Interactive Care-companion mobile training application
Noora Health Care-Companion training app; is a digitized version of health training program for family members of patients to learn the skills they need to help their patient in healing. The process to design an interactive app was user centric and need to be driven. The biggest challenge for me in app design process was to understand the user, as 80% of the target audience had no interaction with mobile or tablet pla.form ever in their life.

Noora Health care companion training app is a digitized version of health training program for family members of patients to learn the skills they need to help their patient in healing. While going through the different lessons in this app, family member will be able to learn about the basic warning signs, hygiene, home exercises, and nutritious diet, which will help family member to become an important part in their patient's recovery. Care companion training app is running successfully in three different hospitals for the cardiac patient.
